The Milwaukee 2429-20 M12™ Sub-Compact Band Saw is the most compact and lightest weight cordless band saw on the market. At less than half the weight and size compared to a traditional deep cut band saw, the M12™ Band Saw provides one-handed power and portability to electricians, maintenance professionals, and other users cutting small diameter materials. The M12™ Band Saw weighs only 6.75 lbs and 12” in length, making it ideal for overhead or one-handed cutting applications. This powerful saw can cut through ¾” EMT in only 3 seconds, and will get over 150 cuts per charge with the M12™ REDLITHIUM XC High Capacity battery. With a 1-5/8” x 1-5/8” cut capacity and low vibration, the M12™ Band Saw performs clean cuts on the most common small diameter metal cutting applications. The M12™ Band Saw also features a dual-latching lower guard that covers the blade outside the active cutting area, addressing OSHA guarding requirements and making the tool suitable for one-handed use. The tool also includes a variable speed trigger, and LED light. Backed by Milwaukee’s® 5-year warranty. Battery and charger are sold separately with this model. The M12™ Sub-Compact Cordless band saw should be used only with Milwaukee® 48-39-0572 Sub-Compact Portable Band Saw Blades.

Compact in size and power

Own the m18 fuel deep cut its a beast, so I bought one of these for those smaller task such as cutting threaded rod and 1” steel pipe. It’s alright at cutting a single 3/8 rod at a time but anything more and it just doesn’t have the power. So slow at cutting thru 1” sch40 steel, can power thru steel with a old school man power hacksaw faster. So if you are just buying for making single 3/8 rod cuts or soft metal like cooper or small plastic pipe its an alright option. It’s a nice size just doesn’t live up to the “nothing but heavy duty”

I MIGHT HAVE TO CHECK OUT THE COMPETITION

I agree that the dead man switch is agravating if you really intend to use this for work. Also whats with only offering a 18 tooth blade? If you use this for thin wall tubing at all, you really need a 24 tooth blade. 24 TOOTH BLADE!!

This saw has spoiled me!

As an electrician, we use this little jewel for most cuts that we used to use a reciprocating saw for. It's perfect for things like EMT & rigid conduit, unistrut and all thread. It gives such a clean cut in most cases it doesn't even damage the threads on all thread. It doesn't require as much effort, so it's great for using while up on a ladder. It doesn't completely replace a reciprocating saw, but it sure does make life easier.

Not as good as the first generation of this tool!

The first generation of this tool is amazing and I have bragged on it for years. I recently bought a second one from Home Depot for my company and it is not half the tool of the five year old one. My guys try to avoid the new and opt to use the old which is completely backwards. In conclusion the new is still better than the other small bandsaws on the market. The first gen gets 5 stars!
